It's a long boring 12-hour trip back to Sydney. Spent most of my time reading E. Annie Proulx's The Shipping News - about a newspaperman in Newfoundland and the women in his life. It's one of those times where the book is better than the movie. The movie is ok with Kevin Spacey and Julianne Moore as lead characters, but the story merely plods along until the end. Sometimes you wonder why they're showing this or why they're doing that. The only high point is when they burned down Nutbeem's boat at the height of the farewell party. The fly-away shot at the end is a nice touch, too. With the book, all the small insignificant stuff helps in developing the characters and the story. It's a bit boring, but you get to appreciate the author's prose and style of writing. Don't worry too much about the grammar though.
